CBS Announces Summer Premieres
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS will once again devote three nights a week to its reality series "Big Brother" as the Eye network announced its summer plans yesterday.

Here's a breakdown of what's in store:

-- "Big Brother 4" will kick off on Tuesday, July 8 at 8:00/7:00c with additional weekly installments on Wednesdays at 9:00/8:00c and Fridays at 8:00/7:00c. The Wednesday edition will air live and feature the eviction of one of the contestants.

-- Simon Cowell's newest entry "Cupid" will premiere Wednesday, July 9 at 10:00/9:00c. The series takes an "American Idol"-like format to the dating genre as a single woman and her friends scour the country for suitable mates with the help of the viewing audience. Brian McFayden (MTV's "Total Request Live") hosts the series, which has an 11-episode order.

-- CBS' "other" burn-off series "Charlie Lawrence" is set to bow Sunday, June 15 at 8:30/7:30c following "Becker." The comedy stars Nathan Lane as a former TV star who winds up holding public office. Laurie Metcalf also stars.

All three series join the previously scheduled fourth edition of "The Amazing Race" (Thursdays at 8:00/7:00c beginning tomorrow) and the second season of "Baby Bob" (Fridays at 8:00/7:00c beginning June 6).

Lastly, look for CBS to begin rearranging its deck chairs to mirror its fall schedule in the coming weeks. "Yes, Dear" will take over the Monday lead-off spot starting June 16 with "Still Standing" sliding to its fall home of 8:30/7:30c that same night. The moves bump "Queens" to Mondays at 9:30/8:30c following "Everybody Loves Raymond" as the series prepares for its shift to Wednesdays in the fall. "J.A.G." will permanently swap to Fridays at 9:00/8:00c as of July 11 while "60 Minutes II" takes over the Wednesday, 8:00/7:00c slot on June 25.
