BLESS THIS MESS/FRESH OFF THE BOAT/SPEECHLESS (ABC) - Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar have signed a new four-year overall with 20th Century Fox Television. The pact covers their duties on said comedies as well as any future development via their The Detective Agency banner. (Deadline.com)
EL PRESIDENTE (Amazon) - Karla Souza, Andrés Parra and Paulina Gaitán are set to star in the eight-part series, a true crime story inspired by the real-life characters and events behind the 2015 "FIFA Gate" corruption scandal. No details about their roles were given. Armando Bo is directing and executive producing for Pablo Larrain's production company Fabula and Gaumont. (Deadline.com)
KATY KEENE (The CW) - Zane Holtz and Katherine LaNasa are the latest bound for the "Riverdale" spin-off as Ko Kelly, "a boxer with two goals in life: to fight a welterweight championship in Madison Square Garden and to marry his longtime girlfriend, Katy Keene"; and Gloria Grandbilt, "a legendary personal shopper at the luxury department store Lacy's, which caters to the rich and famous," respectively. NICK CANNON PRESENTS: WILD 'N OUT (MTV) - The cable channel has ordered 90 additional episodes of the Nick Cannon-hosted improv series. Currently in its 13th season, the pickup extends the series through season 16. (Deadline.com)
POLITICIAN, THE (Netflix) - Co-creator Brad Falchuk has signed a massive four-year, eight-figure overall deal with the streaming service where he'll develop new series projects via his Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision banner. The pact spells the end of his decade plus run at 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
UNICORN (CBS) - Omar Benson Miller and Maya Lynne Robinson are the latest additions to the Walton Goggins-led comedy pilot, about a widower who is eager to move on from the worst year of his life, only to find he's utterly unprepared to raise his two daughters on his own. He'll play Ben, "another of Wade's well-meaning friends, who is convinced Wade is "going to crush it out there" in the dating world." And Robinson is Ben's wife Michelle, "a super laid-back mother to four kids who kind of have to fend for themselves. " (Deadline.com)
WILD SEED (Amazon, New!) - Octavia E. Butler's acclaimed book series - billed as "a love (and hate) story of two African immortals who travel the ages from pre-Colonial West Africa to the far, far future" - is being developed for the small screen at the streaming service. Nnedi Okorafor and Wanuri Kahiu are penning the potential pilot with the latter likewise attached to direct. JuVee Productions' Viola Davis, Julius Tennon and Andrew Wang are also executive producing alongside Ernestine Walker and Merrilee Heifet. (Deadline.com)
YOU (Netflix) - Charlie Barnett is the latest set to recur on the second season as Gabe, "Love's (Victoria Pedretti) oldest friend and closest confidant. He's a successful acupuncturist and psychedelics aficionado living L.A. life to the fullest." (Deadline.com)
