A BOXER WHO WAS ATTACKED BY HER HUSBAND AND LEFT FOR DEAD SPEAKS OUT IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN "48 HOURS: CHRISTY MARTIN - THE FIGHT OF HER LIFE"

Saturday, June 26 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT

48 HOURS: "Christy Martin - The Fight of Her Life" - Correspondent David Begnaud and 48 HOURS report on boxer Christy Martin, who, while dominant in the ring, fought a battle of domestic abuse at home that nearly led to her death in an encore of "Christy Martin - The Fight of Her Life" to be broadcast on Saturday, June 26 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Martin was a worldwide sensation in the boxing ring and was even on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Away from the ring, Martin says she faced a different fight because her husband Jim Martin, who was also her trainer, was abusive and controlling. She says Jim Martin also tried to blackmail Christy Martin for being a lesbian. The Martins' marriage came to a head on Nov. 23, 2010, when Christy says she told her husband she wanted to end the marriage. Jim Martin, she says, beat and stabbed her before pulling a gun. Moments later, he fired one shot into her chest, missing her heart by just inches. Christy Martin survived the attack. Jim Martin would then go on trial and was convicted of attempted murder. Christy Martin was now free to live her own life and love who she wanted to love.
