'20/20' HELPS VIEWERS IN DESPERATE SEARCH FOR THEIR BIOLOGICAL FAMILIES

'Home for the Holidays' Airs on '20/20' Saturday, December 17, on ABC

Saturday night, "20/20" investigations help lost loved ones reunite in a special two-hour edition.

In the first hour "20/20" reports on family mysteries sent in to ABC by viewers searching for their long lost family members. With the help of investigative genealogist Pamela Slaton, whose passion is reuniting people, Anchor Elizabeth Vargas and "20/20" set out on three emotional journeys.

For 44 years Donald D.J. Williams, who was discovered in 1971 just four days after Christmas in a nativity scene in a Houston church as a baby, knew nothing about his biological family. After watching a previous "20/20" report where Slaton helped solve a decades-old mystery, D.J. turned to Slaton and ABC for help. Will DNA testing bring D.J. closer to the truth? Vargas and D.J. return to the church where he was abandoned with hopes of a breakthrough.

Growing up as an only child, Gina Lozada of Long Island always wanted a sibling. After her father died, Gina's mom revealed a family secret - her dad had fathered a son with another woman before they were married. For almost three decades Gina ran into dead-ends while searching for her brother, but she never gave up hope. Will a strange encounter with a New Jersey man at an Atlantic City casino be the turning point for Gina in her life-long quest to find her sibling?

Mississippi native Amanda Holdiness has always wanted to meet her biological father. The only problem is her mother, Vivian, refused to reveal his true identity, saying she was all Amanda ever needed. Vivian finally gave Amanda a name last year, and, after watching "20/20" and Slaton solve another case, she turned to Slaton to help find him. They traveled to Florida and Louisiana. Will it prove to be successful journeys? (OAD 1/29/16)

In the second hour, "20/20" asks: Could someone ever forgive a mom who would abandon not one but three newborn babies within blocks of each other over a five-year period? It is an incredible mystery that is solved right before viewers' eyes, as "20/20" teams up with renowned DNA detective and genetic genealogist CeCe Moore. Janet Barnicoat, one of those three baby foundlings, started her search as many do with a Facebook post begging for clues about her biological family. The post went viral. After hearing about her story, Moore volunteered to help her on her search. But once the three are reunited, they go on a quest to find that mystery mom responsible for the unthinkable. It all culminates in a dramatic family confrontation and a series of startling confessions. Even Moore, with her 16 years of experience, had never seen a story like this one, telling Vargas, "It just blew my mind." (OAD 5/6/16)
