48 HOURS MYSTERY: "FATAL EPISODE, THE PRODUCER'S STORY" SATURDAY, FEB. 25 (10:00 - 11:00 PM, ET/PT)

FORMER REALITY TV PRODUCER BRUCE BERESFORD-REDMAN, ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS WIFE AT A CANCUN RESORT IN 2010, SPEAKS OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME TO "48 HOURS MYSTERY"

In April 2010, former reality television producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, his wife, Monica, and their two young children traveled to Cancun, Mexico for a family vacation. On April 8, Monica's naked, beaten body was discovered in a sewer on the property of the Moon Palace Resort where the family was staying. The vacation was an attempt to save their troubled marriage. The Emmy-nominated producer became a prime suspect in the murder of his wife.

"This is the first time I've chosen to speak..." Bruce Beresford-Redman tells 48 HOURS MYSTERY. "Everyone seems to have decided that I killed my wife. I didn't kill my wife, I really didn't." Beresford-Redman, having been held in a California federal prison for more than a year, was extradited to Mexico just two weeks ago. Escorted by U.S. Marshals, Beresford-Redman was turned over to Mexican federal police. He spoke to 48 HOURS MYSTERY from his isolated cell in a Mexican prison. The broadcast airs on Saturday, Feb. 25 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

On Feb. 15, 2012, a Mexican judge ordered Beresford-Redman to stand trial for the murder of his 42-year-old wife Monica. Beresford-Redman tells 48 HOURS MYSTERY his account of the events preceding his wife's murder and the strange circumstances surrounding his pre-trial hearing.

Beresford-Redman argues that not only did he submit evidence to the Mexican court - including witness testimony - that exonerates him, but also that physical evidence authorities collected from the crime scene two years earlier has mysteriously vanished.

"For anyone who really believes, as you're supposed to believe in America, that you're innocent until you're proven guilty, please, take a look at the evidence, or in this case the absolute complete lack of evidence, and don't rush to judgment," he asks. "This is not CSI' or Law and Order' or any of those shows where at the end we have a satisfying resolution. I doubt that there will ever be a satisfying resolution for this because the evidence is gone. Even if I do manage to get off, I don't know if Monica's killers will ever really be caught."

The irony of a top reality show producer caught in a real-life murder mystery is not lost on Beresford-Redman. "Am I a survivor or not? I think very much remains to be seen." 48 HOURS MYSTERY correspondent Troy Roberts reports: "Fatal Episode, The Producer's Story."

Susan Zirinsky is the executive producer of 48 HOURS MYSTERY. The producers are Paul LaRosa, Josh Yager, Ana Real, Avi Cohen, Ira Sutow, Jamie Stolz and Alec Sirken. The senior producers are Nancy Kramer and Peter Schweitzer.
