NBC's Tuesday Primetime Olympic Coverage Begins At 8 P.M. ET/PT

TORINO, Italy -- February 13, 2006 -- The men take to the ice and Bode Miller gets another chance for Olympic gold in the men's combined highlighting NBC's coverage continuing Tuesday on NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC HD and Universal HD. NBC's Tuesday primetime coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET/PT as figure skating resumes with the short program of the men's competition, featuring Russia's flashy Yevgeny Plushenko, the silver medalist in Salt Lake City and the gold medal favorite at these Games.

NBC's Dick Button said, "I would give Plushenko, who is-one hell of a competitor-a very good chance at the men's event, but I've got to tell you that the men's event right now is one of the broadest, one of the most diverse competitions I've seen in a long time." The Americans figure to be in the medal chase, as their team will include three-time National Champion Johnny Weir (Newark, Del.), 2005 World bronze medalist Evan Lysacek (Naperville, Ill.), and Cornell law-student-to-be Matt Savoie (Peoria, Ill.), who qualified for his first Olympic team at age 25.

Bode Miller gets a chance at redemption in Torino after finishing fifth in the downhill, with another gold medal opportunity in the men's combined (downhill and slalom.) As the 2003 World Champion in this event, the bold New England superstar looks to turn his Salt Lake silver into Torino gold.

Mark Grimmette (Muskegon, Mich.) and Brian Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.), who won bronze in 1998 and silver in 2002 in the men's doubles luge competition, attempt to become the first American men ever to win medals at three different Winter Olympics.

Four years ago, Todd Lodwick (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) nearly led Team USA to its first-ever Olympic medal in nordic combined, finishing fourth-just out of the medals-in this, the team event. Lodwick is back in Torino, having refocused his efforts toward ending this medal drought.
