Get ready to rethink your grocery list, as "20/20" takes on some of the fables on our tables, including: Too much sugar makes kids hyperactive; expensive coffees taste better than cheaper brands; margarine is more healthful than butter; and you should drink eight glasses of water a day. "Food: Myths, Lies and Straight Talk" explores these topics and other common misconceptions, on "20/20," FRIDAY, APRIL 22 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"20/20" anchors Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel, along with ABC News Correspondents Jim Avila, Don Dahler, Lynn Sherr, Bill Ritter and JuJu Chang, look at such popular myths as:

* Green tea helps prevent certain cancers and heart disease

* You should drink eight glasses of water a day

* Expensive brands of coffee taste better than cheaper brands

* Brand name foods taste better than store label food

* Margarine is better for you than butter

* Too many sugared foods makes kids hyperactive

* It's safer to eat at home than at a restaurant

Additionally: ABC News Correspondent Bob Brown profiles the winner of "The Story of My Life" search conducted by "Good Morning America" and Simon Spotlight Entertainment, an imprint of the Simon & Schuster Publishing Group, to find the next great American memoir. The winner will be announced on "Good Morning America" on Friday, April 22. The three finalists include Farah Ahmedi, an Afghan teenager who lost her leg to a landmine and now lives in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton, Illinois; Betty Ferguson, an Erie, PA woman who forgave her daughter's killer; and Mercedes Florencia Brudnicki, a Roselle Park, NJ woman whose brother was trapped in Cuba by the Castro regime. The three finalists' stories were told in consecutive segments on "Good Morning America" during the week of March 28, and then viewers voted on whose book they wanted to read via abcnews.com.

ABCNEWS.com, the 24-hour news service of ABC News and part of the ABC Internet Group, will provide companion programming to Friday's broadcast.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is the executive producer.
